The recipient for our fundraising efforts for March 2019 is 1 Just City.
1JustCity is an organization founded by four member charities who work together with volunteers like you, toward a city where all are cared for, all have enough to eat, a place they belong and feel loved. From January to March every year, thanks to generous Winnipeggers like you, we also provide an emergency warming centre called Just a Warm Sleep.
We had a lovely turn-out of just under 40 members to the Tuesday, September 15th at Canad Inns Destination Centre Polo Park.
Our group selected Jocelyn House as our charity of choice. All cheques have been forwarded to this wonderful organization. Be sure to join us at the December 1st meeting to hear an update on how these funds have been put to use.
The initial meeting for 100 Women Who Care Winnipeg took place on Tuesday, June 2nd at Canad Inns Destination Centre Polo Park.
Our doors opened at 5.30 pm and we welcomed in a small but very enthusiastic group of women to our inaugural meeting.
The meeting ran from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm during which time we reviewed the overarching objectives of our group and reviewed a list of FAQs to ensure everyone thoroughly understood the group’s mandate and operations. Following this discussion, we carried on our random draw for the 3 finalists, heard the presentations from the 3 members on their charity of choice and then held our vote via secret ballot.
Even though this was only our first meeting, we already found ourselves having to hold a second vote to break a two-way tie! In the end the members voted to support Manitoba Riders for Disabilities (MRDA). Each member wrote out their cheque for $100 to MRDA and the meeting was adjourned.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Our members recommended changing the September meeting date to Tuesday, September 15th, 2015. Please update your calendars. See you then!
