March 7th Meeting – St. Matthews-Maryland Community Ministry Selected!

Our first meeting of 2017, we hosted a great group of women at our new meeting spot – St. Mary’s Academy. Thank you again to Connie Yunyk at SMA for opening the doors for us. It is the perfect central location with loads of free parking!
We started our meeting with a wonder presentation from Michael Schiefer – Executive Director with the Never Alone Foundation – recipient of last meeting’s $100 cheques. Michael shared with us how little gifts of comfort can cost – such as a heating pad to stay warm, or a backyard planting bee – can really go a long way to bring peace to those affected by cancer. He showed a short video with testimonials and real examples of how the Never Alone Foundation helps so many in our community.

We then selected our 3 finalist charities: OHEYS Autism Programs, Manitoba Immigration Centre and St. Matthews-Maryland Community Ministry. After hearing presentations about these worthy local groups, members voted for St. Matthews-Maryland Community Ministry as the recipient of our $100 cheques.

Special thanks to Deb May and Georgine Van de Mosselaer for help in setting up our room and to Panago Pizza for the delicious pizzas!

If you were unable to attend the meeting, please write out your $100 cheque to “St. Matthews-Maryland Community Ministry”. Ensure that your contact info is on the cheque as the charitable tax receipt will be mailed directly to you.
